H&M Join Forces with Marni for Spring 2012

For the past couple of weeks H&M had a tremendous and positive response after its partnership with design powerhouse Versace. It can be arguably said that it was the stores’ most well received collaborations done thus far. Now there is a new alliance brewing on the horizon for spring 2012 with Italian label Marni. If we take a look back at Marni’s past collections you will notice the label’s love for color, collage-like prints and print-on-print combinations. Scheduled to hit stores worldwide on March 8th 2012 you will definitely see a contrast of prints and colors.

Designer Consuelo Castiglioni was quoted as saying “I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements”. If you’re axiously awaiting this collaboration take a peek at the behind the scenes video below released by H&M with a cameo from Style.com’s Tim Blanks.

Scott James Collection

We go through life searching desperately to find that one thing that we love doing to avoid the feeling of despair every morning before going into an unsatisfying work situation. Scott James Kuhlman, designer and founder of the successful menswear boutique Kulhman did just that. Today, Kuhlman is continuing to reach for his dreams by launching his clothing line Scott James.  Italian craftsmanship, love of unique fabrics and a keen eye for fashion resulted in a stylish and modern aesthetic for this collection. The mixtures of color with a neutral palette generate balance and give the line a fresh look for the Spring/Summer season.

Ovadia & Sons Spring/Summer 2012

The last time we spoke of Ovadia & Sons their mission for Fall/Winter was to create clothing for the modern man. Today the concept is still the same for Spring/Summer 2012. I really enjoy the way this label takes what is considered as “traditional” looks and infuse youth and freshness by adding a contemporary twist. I guess that should be expected with young, fearless designers like Shimon and Ariel Ovadia, where staying confined within an expected criterion is not an option.  The injection of color creates vitally to the collection sparking excitement for those warm months to come. Leave it the Ovadia brothers to produce yet another enthusiastic and well-made collection.

Pierre Balmain Spring Collection

Young and edgy would best describe Pierre Balmain’s 2012 Spring/Summer collection.  In case you haven’t heard or noticed, distressed denim, biker jackets and denim vests are staples that every young man should own in their wardrobe. These pieces are great for layering or stand individually on their own as you can see illustrated by Balmain. Adding a traditional piece such as the double breasted blazer was a clever move giving the collection a classic element.

Michael Bastian

James Dean aka “Rebel without a Cause” is an American icon known for his style and finesse. That is why it was a no-brainer for designer Michael Bastian to draw inspiration from this cultural idol for his Spring/Summer collection.  The line is masculine, edgy and strong with a commanding presence as each model walked the runaway, embodying everything that James Dean represented as a style icon.

Airedale

Airedale is a company that specializes in the outdoor and outerwear industry hence the reason why their 2012 Spring/Summer collection has somewhat of a nautical theme. Ascot neatly tucked into a lavender shirt coupled with a navy blue v-neck sweater sets the tone of this theme. Props such as a tool box, binoculars and rope were used reinforce the Airedale’s outdoor roots. The subtle use of color with neutrals gives this collection a rather preppy presence. Resilience, functionality and exceptional quality is clear from Airedale’s Spring/Summer presentation.

One And One

Vanishing Elephant is a fairly young label based out of Sydney Australia. Even though the brand’s first collection was released back in February 2009, it certainly didn’t waste time making its mark in men’s fashion. Shortly after the brand’s debut it was awarded Designer of the Year at the 2010 GQ Awards in Sidney. Known for its classic aesthetic with a modern twist and gentlemanly style, the label released its Spring/Summer collection following that blueprint precisely.  By using an extensive color palette and bold prints, this label was able to accomplish counterbalancing a classic piece of clothing with an off-the-wall design. The name of the collection is “One and One” and was described as “Classic style with an extreme fashion twist.”
